Contract Labour

The system of employing Contract Labour is prevalent in most industries in different occupations including skilled and semi skilled jobs. A labour who is employed to perform some work and has no direct employer-employee relation with the “principle employer” for whom the work is ultimately done, is called Contract Labour. Workmen are deemed to be employed as contract labour when he is hired in connection with the work of an establishment by or through a contractor.  It also applies to establishments of the Government and local authorities as well.
